Real life on your PC - New Cryengine demo

Guest

Just watch this and you will know what i mean

Where is this world going with the graphics? We will probably import the whole world into the game in the future. What do you think about this and what do you think what should next generation graphics look like?

EDIT: Just found a another topic on this but there has been no discussion at all,  we can still discuss about the further future of graphics :D

they should try to make games run smoother on current gen hardware instead of trying to make it look better because i think crysis 3 already looks good enough

i wouldn't say real life, game and movie like images - yes.

games and movies have almost always that very rich, vivid and vibrant colors that seldom happen in real life

it's great, yea, but not quite yet - at least for me :p

it feels very constructed, we're getting closer to realizing the simulation theory :)

Check out the build: Used to be Obot, now Lilith

Go to Croatia, those colors and vegetation look the same as in Crysis 3. MY EYES ARE BLEEDING WHEN LOOKING TROUGH WINDOW 0_0

The best part about this is that the video was displayed on Youtube, which made it look crappy at 1080p. Having this demo'd at 4K in true quality would be stunning.

My god, the shots of the street are super impressive.

This combined with a Rift is going to bring so much immersion man. If you were able to get that thing like Linus tested that simulated walking and you could run those graphics at 60 Fps maxed on a rift I could see people actually developing a ensation of being prt of two life's.

Pushing the envelope further doesn't seem to cut it, they're stretching it to a breaking point. XD

When we get realistic life-like worlds like that online then I'm putting myself into cryogenic storage and uploading my mind so I can "Live" for a great deal longer than my biological body would but I can still come back into the real world if I want.

not only does it look amazing, the latest CryEngine runs really damn well - Crysis 3 definitely performs on a wide range of hardware compared to Crysis 1 when the engine first came out

I still think their newest video isn't edited that well - only because there are so many other jaw-dropping things they could have shown off. "Crysis 3 Tech Demo" showed off more wowomgvisuals imo

but that's just nitpicking :)

Looks awesome but I am going to assume the focus of the demo was to show the technical aspects (weather, physicist effects, dynamic lighting, the interface tools) and not so much how pretty it looks since those parts are what stood out the most for me.

Not bad; but I'm sure actual games with good art direction can look far more interesting than this. Last scene was cool with the water evaporating; wonder how they do that.

The best part about this is that the video was displayed on Youtube, which made it look crappy at 1080p. Having this demo'd at 4K in true quality would be stunning.

The problem with youtube is not the resolution at all. It's the lossy compressed video formats. Playing a game at 1080p directly from your VGA to your monitor looks way better compared to watching a 1080p video of that same play-through on streaming media. This is a major problem with a lot of the online video comparisons where they try to compare low settings vs high settings or console vs PC. Unfortunately most people watching think they are seeing an accurate representation.
