Interesting but I wouldn't trust those contacts to last very long.

I still don't see the point in a smart watch, even less in a modular one.

Weren't they meant to come out with a phone as well? what happened to that.

In the beginning they were planning on making a modular smartphone like the Project Ara but has since switched to making the first modular smartwatch instead, although they could later go back to the idea of making a phone as well.

I would just have a shit ton of kinetic chargers and never have to plug it in.

I would do the same thing man xD, one of the module i will be looking forward for :)

Since BLOCKS will be releasing a SIM module and camera module you could replace your phone with this smartwatch, and since this is the case it will in a way just be a wearable Project Ara that will be able to be upgraded both modular wise and core wise :)

I highly doubt the camera will be any good. Also it sounds like this may be a quite bulky watch.

1. Think I'll stick to my normal watch

2. They still haven't delivered on their modular smartphones... Either this is one hell of a scam group or they're just taking their sweet ass time. Frankly, I wouldn't even consider giving them a penny that I just found on the floor.

Since they did not actually announce that they would release a modular phone, but only work on one you can't really blame them for doing this instead since google is way ahead regarding the modular phone.

I am sure this is in no way a scam because of the many updates and frequent feedback from them. Also they have been interviewed in person by Forbes and others.

I'm still waiting for Pebble Time smartstraps....

The modules for BLOCKS are smaller then what i have seen the Pebble Time smartstraps to be and should in no way be bulky since every module will have the same size :)

Is there even a single smartstrap in production?

And from the images, they look decently bulky (I mean, the whole watch looks bulky).

Since its open source there soon will be a smartstrap probably, i will at least be trying to make a leather strap with built in battery (flexiable of cause) for when you dont want the modules and just extra power.

A modular smartphone would be amazing but it seems like it has hit a stop, and there is really not any news on that front

unless its using android wear, not really worth it. Although, to be fair android wear was no where near as good a year ago as it is now... it was pretty clunky back then. It really does come down to the software to determine just how smart a smartwatch is. if it can't interact fully with your phone (make and receive calls, show emails, texts, alerts, music player, take voice commands etc) and also interact with other bluetooth devices connected to your phone, its not really smart in my opinion. I seriously go nuts without my Gwatch on, i don't know how I coped in the past without a smartwatch.
