Audio setup for Streaming, Podcasting, Youtube ECT (Help)

So, lets get started eh?

I want an audio setup that is brilliant for Streaming, Podcasting, Youtube ECT.

But i want it to be practical, and comfortable for some casual gaming and Skyping with friends.

What kind of equipment do you guys suggest?

Go nuts.

NOTE: I can probably spend about $1000-2000 on it... i said no budget to get an idea of whats out there. But in reality, a beginner content creator should only really spend 1000-2000. In my opinion that's true anyway..

ALSO: I own a pair of audiotechnica ath-m50x's.

You have no budget..does that mean you have no set budget in mind, or you don't have any money to spend at all?

I think from him saying "go nuts" he's referring to money is no object, so expensive is good.

In that case, Sennheiser HD 800 and a Shure SM7B will be your best setup. One of the best dynamic mics out there, and being a dynamic mic you won't get any background noise and the SM7B makes you sound the same regardless of whether it's 3 inches from your face, or 10.

I absolutely support this.

For an amp, though... you may want something like Schiit's TotL amp and DAC... or something.

Did you seriously just recommend a $5000 microphone with a crappy $50 XLR-USB accessory.

If you're going to spend $5000 on a microphone, at least get the RME Babyface. Or the Babyface Pro which is coming out in a few days.

The Heil PR-40 and the Shure SM7B are both very good dynamic microphones, You can't go wrong with either.

Also, get Mogami or Canary XLR cables, possibly custom from Redco.

The shure sm7b seems like a good option.

But what kind of amp/dac/thing should i hook up to it?

The RME Babyface Pro.

Or if you're looking for something slightly cheaper, the Audient ID22.

Or if you're looking for something even cheaper than that, the Roland Quad Capture.

Or if you're looking for something even cheaper than that, the Steinberg UR22.

These things you hook up microphones to with XLR ports are called audio interfaces. I personally think you don't need a DAC if you have a good audio interface.

You'll also need XLR cables (preferably Mogami or Canary) and a stand for your microphone. I don't know much about stands, but I assume a suspension or scissor stand which attaches to your desk would be the best for your setup.

You'll connect your ID22 to a USB port, connect your SM7b to the ID22 using an XLR cable, then connect your ATH-M50X headphones to the ID22 using the 1/4 TRS cable which came with the M50X. Screw in the SM7b to whichever microphone stand you decide to get. Done.

Okay, for $1000-2000 since you've updated your post... hmm...

Mic: Shure SM7B
Mixer for that: Focusrite Scarlet 6i6 is what I can think of. Or go with the ID22.
Headphone: Since you're spending that much anyways, just let go of the M50X (I seriously feel bad that you and/or anyone who bought the M50X because it performs sonically identical to the M40X) and get something like a Sennheiser HD600. For your amp, you may want a Schiit Stack Uber 2.

What stand would you recommend?

I have a triple monitor setup, with very little room on either end.

But there is plenty of room underneath the monitors. They are rog swift pg278q's, and i have them about 9 inches above the desk.

Rode PSA1.

Or if you're looking for something slightly cheaper, the On Stage MBS5500.

But your mic stand is one of the things I don't recommend cheaping out on. I would stick with the PSA1.

You can attach the stand on your monitor.
