Can't get BluRay Jurassic World to play on my PC?

liilMatt
Go to solution Solved by PlayStation 2,

Out of curiosity, as I can this Bluray disc play anything better than 1080p @ 24fps? I know we might be moving to a new version of bluray, and I'm tired of 24fps...

24fps is what the film was filmed at, and what the Blu-Ray uses for the movie.

I put it in, and nothing works lol. So I thought maybe my media player (VLC) didn't support it. Downloaded some program to meant for .m2ts files, and still nothing.

Now I can use my PS3, but that isn't fun is it?

Guess on solutions?

So blu ray disks are encrypted in a rather more substantial way than DVDs and the only way I know how to do it without ripping is with licensed software, PowerDVD and the like.  Otherwise check out MakeMKV (free while still in beta, with no signs of leaving beta but still quite regular updates).  Untested by me for blu rays but it's a great DVD ripper that also supposedly works for blu ray disks.

I'm using Cyberlinks Power DVD trial at the moment; works just fine.  I couldn't play the Pirates of the Caribbean because it didn't support clicking on the menu options.  Cyberlink had a virtual remote that did the job, in my case at least.  goodluck

Like, is the video format at 1080p at 24fps?

MakeMKV is free while in beta and extremely easy to use, expect each Blu-Ray to take between 15-30GB HDD space when ripped. Plays back fine in VLC without needing to do anything special since MakeMKV will remove the encryption.

Alternatively, you can purchase a copy of CyberLink PowerDVD for a legit desktop player. A standalone copy costs around $60-$85 depending on which edition you get. They also offer a subscription version for $15/3 months or $45/year that gives you the best edition with free upgrades and some online storage/services stuff.

In my opinion there is no player out there good enough for bluray playback. They all have really annoying crap that you dont want and they also stop working for no reason. Ive had this happen many, many times. For bluray disc playback its best to buy either a standalone or use a ps3/4, that works much better.

If you must really play it on a pc then use makeMKV to rip the movies. I've done this myself many times. You just get an mkv file with the movie and the audio and subtitle tracks that you can select before you rip it to ur hdd/ssd. Which will work with vlc.
