shield tv or steam link?

i am looking to get a streaming box for my tv but i cant decide between either the nvidia shield tv or steam link

does anybody have any experience with either?

also i use a xbox one controller and oculus rift  and wonder if either of them will work? (think not)

 

pc specs

3 1080p monitors using a gtx 970

802.11 ac wireless changing to wired when available

 

tv specs

large 4k tv with hdmi 2.0

wired Ethernet to area

 

network specs

cat 5e throughout house with plans to upgrade to cat 6/7

15/5 Mbps internet but getting 300/30 soon

Why would you upgrade to Cat 6/7? 5e has 350 Mhz already, your connection wouldn't be bottleneck by the cable.

Aren't they vastly different products?

 

Shield is an android stand alone system that can play some* PC titles

Steam Link is a streaming box to go from your PC to the TV. You have to run your PC it basically mirrors your PC to the TV

 

Am I wrong?

I have a Steam Link and I love it to buts, but a Shield TV is the best route for your setup. Think of the Link as a replacement for a USB and HDMI cable, while the Shield is the gamer version of a Roku.
