I'm thinking skylake but Mobo and Ram prices are still  higher than :LGA 1150 to justify,

I've looked into the e3 1220 and 1230 v3s, but their TDPs are both higher than some i5s.

If I can get a great price or some used parts, that may be the way to go.

I mean, they are typically installed perpendicular to the motherboard, not at an 80* angle. That card appears to me to be a little more.. uh.. crooked than it's supposed to be.

had some sheet metal (galvanized steel) left over from my Apple G5 case mod, might as well make an adapter instead of using double sided tape and zipties.

So subscribed

I see you started a Hadron Air owner's club on LTT, I hope more users have it/buy it. It's a challenge, but it's on sale for 100 (or when I got it, which case + PSU is a steal).

I'll just keep drooling over the mods on the EVGA forums.

I may have a fancy piece of paper from a fancy college, but I will still be a 13 year old at heart.

with that said my drill broke. I had to use my dremel to make the hole for the fan.

I used a hammer and a self tapping screw (boxes of them) from my lacrosse days to make the hole and really tightly SCREWED to make the hole bigger.

I was going to use rubbers (hehe) to mount (omg) to the case, but I fear the sheet metal is too thin and sharp.

Update, CPU and Mobo added. Mobo will be here after Christmas.

finding a motherboard was a pain. z97 itx with an m.2 slot.

Not the colors I wanted, but I'll paint the heat sinks eventually.

I went with a 4770k as 200 was a good deal, and I have extra ddr3 laying around.

  • 3 weeks later...

well the old tubing broke. Sooo. In zip ties I trust.

Cut down an NF-P12, it's 3 pin, kind of regret the purchase, but until something breaks I'll have to go with that.

It seems my MOBO only supports 3pin voltage regulation on the single case fan header and not the CPU fan header. Unfortunately, the pump has the buzzing issue, so I have to hook up the pump to the case fan header (80 or 85%) and the NF-B9 to the cpu header, while the NF-P12 is hooked up to the PSU using a molex to fan adapter, ghetto modded to be 7 volts.

Temps are still better than air cooling (10 degrees), similar sound, maybe a tad higher pitch... will experiment more with fans and headers... maybe even try 5 volts.
