Why exactly does he need an i7? Also, AMD cards beat NVIDIA cards (well, most of the time) in mid range now.

Yea, he has the budget and wants an i7, he might stream as well. I can probably convince him to get an AMD card. I just need suggestions. For the whole computer.

Yeah good price hey? Beats the 970 in higher resolutions if your mate wants to upgrade in the future.

On all 390s yes, and most 390s are cheaper than 970s so yeah :D

He will be staying at 1080p more than likely

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PFFhHx The CPU cooler is kind of an asthetic choice. The CPU however, depends on what you're doing. For gaming, this CPU will do just fine.

OP's second post states that friend may also be doing some streaming so extra threads would help. NEX from EVGA is a shitty PSU series, the 390 outperforms the 970 and you don't need a Z-series board on a locked CPU :P

At 1080, 970 is just about the same as a 390, any higher though, and the 390 is better.

Yea, might stream that is why the i7 is the better option, also, is a 970 at 1080 better due to the Ge-force experience and all the perks that has?

Edited.
Explanation? This has the best looks in my opinion, especially with the motherboard. 970 gives you a simple experience by allowing you to optimize games and stuff (I know AMD does this, but he said he liked NVIDIA) It also comes with Windows 10. Finally, it has a 4690. This could be swapped out for a better CPU if you want.

The only thing I saw that you changed in that was the i5 4460 to the i5 4690.. Both are locked still and only i7s have more threads.
