Windows 10 Insider problem

Elzix

I've been wondering since i'm an insider and i was in the preview before build 10240 why can't i now upgrade further with preview updates? I saw today build 10565 coming out and i'm just stuck on 10240, can't get any insider things. Any ideas why is that?

@Elzix

  1. Open Command Prompt by Start -> Run and type “cmd
  2. On the Command Prompt, type “net stop wuauserv“. This is done so that you will terminate the windows automatic update service to allow us to delete the cache files
  3. Still on the Command Prompt, type “cd /d %windir%” or “cd\windows
  4. Type “rd /s SoftwareDistribution
  5. Thats it, the cache has been purged. Now we need to restart the windows automatic update service again. To do that, type “net start wuauserv

Just spoke with microsoft support and honestly, i've never ever heard bigger shit than that. Basically if you do a clean install of windows 10 you loose the entire insider things and it's irreversible. So whoever has an insider builds now - don't do a clean install ever! It seems microsoft is too big shit to do a thing properly. Thank you friend for your help but it seems it's all for nothing.

Not true at all I did a clean install then like yesterday I joined the insider preview again after using the retail version for ages and I got the insider build it takes some time for you to receive the insider build I had to wait awhile then click check for updates then I got it after a couple times.

I think you miss understood. You can clean install and join the Insider program, but if you recently installed Windows 10, you have to wait for your wave to actually join in. Also, you need to reboot the computer after you enable insider builds, and you need a Microsoft account, that is joined to the program (https://insider.windows.com/), you also need to be 18 years or older.
