Loading OS on a hard drive with a laptop

I have a digital copy of Windows 10 on my laptop & I am planning to build a desktop, I was wondering if I can just buy my hard drive, connect it to my laptop and then load Windows 10 onto it.

Thanks, SabFilms

You cannot, or rather, it will not work as intended.

Do a fresh install.

In theory you can. But only if its clean install. Refreshing or upgaring won't work and you will get BSOD when switching drive to desktop.
