2 Gamers, 1 CPU - Virtualized Gaming Build Log

so i couldn't do 2 cores for 2 machines?

No because at least one core will be used to run the OS that allows you to run multiple OS's. So you'll have three cores left over and gaming on a single core is not desirable.

so 1 core for main os 2 cores for 1 machine and 1 core for the 2nd?

Not if he has the 980 and 760 in, one will run on the 980 and the other on the 760.

so would it at least work? if so can you do it with out doing a raid and just put both on 1 hard drive?

the i5 does not support VT-d which is for assigning PCI-e devices to virtual machines, Linus even explains in the video

CPU AMD Ryzen 5 3600x | GPU GIGABYTE GTX 1070ti WINDFORCE | MOBO ASUS Prime X570-P | MEMORY XPG Spectrix 2x8GB 3200MHz  | PSU OCZ Zx 850W | CASE NZXT H440

Yes, check out my video here on how cores affect gaming performance. Although you may be able to get battlefront to run with a single core it might not run well and will most likely bottleneck either one of those GPU's. I'd pair the single core with the 980 as it'll still have no problems maxing out battlefront then pair the other two cores with the 760 so it'll still be able to achieve good frame rates.

I believe so, I am not sure though, I am sure someone will chime in and help :)

I'm not sure if a hard drive would be fast enough to partition and use for 2 virtual pcs, and idk if your SATA connection would like that either

CPU: AMD FX-6300 4GHz @ 1.3 volts | CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO | RAM: 8GB DDR3

Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A-DS3P | GPU: EVGA GTX 960 SSC | SSD: 250GB Samsung 850 EVO

HDD: 1TB WD Caviar Green | Case: Fractal Design Core 2500 | OS: Windows 10 Home

Would this work with only one gpu or two, one high end (980) then one low end for the basic card that was used?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking here, however, there is no requirement that the GPUs match.  In my ESXi host I'm running a Radeon HD 6970 and an HD 7470, each attached to a different VM.

Sorry should have been more specific with it, I would run a gtx 210 for unraid to work then a 980 for vms but after watching the video a few times i see each vm would need its own gpu but would i be able to add a 7850 along side the 210 and 980 for the vms to work?

Also is there a work around for a i7 3770k as it has vt-x but no vt-d?

I wonder if one could run two kinect's off one of these rigs.... would solve some major motion capture issues.

I don't know why you couldn't add a 7850 to the system later on.  Having nVidia cards working in any hypervisor is relatively new, so I don't know that anyone has even tried.

As to your second question, no, there are no workarounds for that -- the CPU needs to support VT-d (or IOMMU for an AMD part) for any of this to work.

Ever thought to yourself - My computer is so powerful that it could conceivably run TWO copies of this game.. How would I do that? Well, here's the answer, friends!

Lime Technology unRAID Server Pro: http://lime-technology.com/

Hi Linus is the part is mandatory? specially for GPU and CPU. Because I'm Interested to make that build here for my colleagues, to run some 3ds max and CAD job.

Could I Build that Tower in scrapyard style?? we do have lot of surplus xeon and server motherboard here. also comes with lots ddr 2 ecc ram stick. and some fx series quadro.

Is there any other way to set the CPU other than using Lime? like free unRAID?

thank's for your help.

Flippen awesome video guys!

Is this possible with an AMD rig, seeing as VT-X and VT-D are specific to intel, or are AMD's equivalents compatible?

My motherboard doesn't have 3x PCI-E slots and my FX 8320 doesn't have onboard graphics

Is there an alternative to needing a card for passthrough?

Otherwise intel here we come!
