Kraken x41 plugged into CPU_OPT?

I just created my first build and everything is running fine. I have an asus maximus vii hero motherboard and a kraken x41 cooler. Initially when i plugged the 3-pin pump cord into the CPU_FAN fan header it was perfectly fine. However after shuffling around and stuff it seemed like the pump wouldn't turn on (i tried rebooting multiple times to no avail). Then i plugged it into the CPU_OPT fan head and it seems to be working fine, Its been a couple days and pump has been working perfect so far temps are around 30 degrees Celsius on idle and about 60 degrees Celsius while playing games (Assassins creed unity). Is it wrong to have the pump plugged into the CPU_OPT header? From what i can see and i could be wrong the CPU_OPT may simply be another option for people who choose to do multiple water cooling configs? Im not sure. I have plugged a fan into the CPU_FAN fan header and it is working however i noticed that it seems to be running somewhat slower? Anyways, in short my initial question would be is it okay for me to run my kraken x41's pump off of the CPU_OPT fan header on my asus maximus vii hero.

CPU_opt is the only header on the motherboard which runs at full speed only. You cannot control the rpm / voltage for any fan / pump connected to it thru software.

Maybe the cpu_fan had auto-fan shutoff in software enabled?

I just created my first build and everything is running fine. Snip

it is fine. Asus uses the cpu_opt header as a twin of the cpu header. Whatever you set the cpu fan to do, the cpu_opt will also do. You can adjust the settings for cpu_fan in the "monitoring" or "monitor" tab of the bios. Make sure that the cpu header is set to DC not pwm if you decide to play with the settings (since your pump is not pwm). You can set it to manual to make sure that your fans speed up at the right temps.
