AMD 8350 vs 9370

Go to solution Solved by QueenDemetria,

What should I go for? And no I will not go for Intel because I need the 8 cores and to go with Intel it would cost me an arm and a leg.

8350 hands down. Just overclock it if you need it to be like a 9000 series chip.

Like I said, 8 cores are required :P But I might go with the 8350 then.

It doesn't have 8 cores. It has 4 modules 8 ALU-which can't function as independant CPU like actual cores.

even with an amd 8 core, its been shown that in those things, an intel quad core has 20% more performance and a hyperthreaded quad core would win even more

Why 8 cores?

Why 8 cores?

Fast single core > Slow multiple ones

It isn't for gaming it is for Production so that does not really apply there. Atleast when I was doing my tests it didn't

Why?

Production work, Audio and Video.

Either way, I was asking out of two processors what I should get.. Not what I should get and disregard what I said in the topic.

Yeah I know.. I just want an AMD system. I don't care if Intel is better or anything I just want to know out of the two what I should get.

It really depends on the workload. I know for video rendering, my 8320 smashes my Q9550(which is one of the things OP wants to do).

Edit: WHoops, read that as Intel Core 2 Quad.

Edit#2: AMD's 8 cores still outperform Intels quads(i5) in multithreading, the recent 6000 series breaks this though(however costs much more).

If you've decided completely for amd get a 8350-8370 and overclock it to a 9370. It'll save some money because a 9370 is just an overclocked amd 8350.

You'll need a good 990fx motherboard.

Yeah, And I have tried Audio editing on my Xeon quad core and it just sits at 100% all the time and stops playback saying that I need a more powerful proc :P (It doesn't actually say that)

Purchase an 8350 and a decent cooler. You should be able to hit 4.8Ghz no problem; however, AMDs processors were made in 2011, and the "8 cores" are really just 4 modules split. I don't know enough about audio work, but intel would do you much better. Then again, you clearly don't want intel.

I'm still rocking my 8320 since 2011.

I own enough Intel Procs and my friends 8350 does soooooo much better in Audio and Video work than my Xeon does. Thats why I want to go with AMD with this build.

What is your budget ? What else do you have ? What previous quad xeon core did you have ?

Xeons are generally better, you can get a cheaper motherboard for it.

Do you have a motherboard currently? For either AMD or Intel?

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT

It depends on the Xeon, and hyperthreading would help a whole lot.
