Need a new receiver

Zambonie

So, the receiver in the family room is pretty much dying. It's a old ass Panasonic receiver (I think its a SA-HT75 but its a little different), it came with the house as pretty much one of the only things the old owner left behind.

We noticed that the rear speakers weren't working, so we went into the attic to see if theres any wiring problems (The speakers are in-ceiling, some white sony ones, thats's all I know.) There weren't any wiring problems, so we tried a few different speakers and modes and stuff on the receiver, nothing played. We then directly connected a speaker to the receiver itself (using a few working speakers and wires), and there was no sound, indicating that the problem was with the receiver. If you looked inside the receiver, you can see the fan dying to, as it was 'stuttering' a little, turning off and on at random short times.

So, now we are looking for a new receiver. Don't really care where its from (it can be from amazon or best buy or whatever), it needs to support a 5.1 system, HDMI, and FM/AM radio (we already have attenas in our attic (i think they are in there), but I don't know if the wiring will match.) The subwoofer we have also uses the same wiring a regular speaker would (red and black cables, you know)

We just payed about $700 today for out pool system to be replaced to a salt system (we had a chlorine system before ofc), and we also gotta pay even more soon for a few other stuff.

So we're on a limited budget, nothing way to expensive, maybe around the $200 price mark, maybe, just maybe $300, but $200 for the most part.

That's all I think I can provide, I can probably see if I can get pictures of the receiver's outputs/inputs soon so that you can make sure that connecting the new one to my existing one wouldn't cause any conflicts with mismatching wiring, etc.

Thanks.

I want to see a few more posts to see what other people think, to have a mass agreement on one receiver rather then one person linking one receiver.

Well, I'll tell you now Pioneer and Onkyo Receiver are the best out there.

I have my own Home theater setup for my PC as well and most receiver around 200-300 are only 2.0 channel, that one is a open box that has been checked over for damage

Yeah, I heard that Onkyo is good (and we have one Onkyo receiver, its just being used for outdoor audio however, but it sounds really great despite it only being stereo)

Also, now that I look at it, the I/O of that receiver is almost exactly like mine, which is a problem, i think. Like I said, the existing subwoofer we have uses regular gauge wire, but I don't know.

Here's a picture I found, which has the exact IO as the current receiver:

Dunno if what you linked was on purpose and was supposed to match that IO in some way, but I don't know

What do you mean Regular Gage wires? Like same wires as the speakers?

WAIT, what do you use from your TV to Receiver for audio? Digital Coax or Analog?

Yeah, I mean refer to the picture I linked. Its the same IO, and you can see where it says subwoofer, surround, center, front, etc

ok then I don't even know my own setup, I have to look at it again. I remember it playing out of the rear speakers yesterday.

lol

Ok I checked, yeah, its using analog red and white.

But then...

Why is it a 5.1 surround system if it only accepts stereo inputs? lol

I may guess maybe because of a program that simulates rear sound using stereo. But, we are using the same wiring setup as we did yesterday, and I heard sound from the rear speakers yesterday I know that lol

Which does mean its the receiver's fault

Nonetheless this is why we need a new freaking one lol

Btw, I found the REAL IO, its a Panasonic SA-HT80 with a 5 disk slot

Is there any recomendations you have? I see the pioneer you linked has optical, but the IO is differnet for speakers (the subwoofer and fm input/output in specific)

Just look at Pioneer and Onkyo and find which is best for you

Yeah, I've been looking for the past while now actually on amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-A-9010-Integrated-Stereo-Amplifier/dp/B00SY20TE8/ref=sr_1_4?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1444440110&sr=1-4&refinements=p_89%3AOnkyo%7CPioneer%2Cp_36%3A15000-35000

This one is pure sexy IMO, and I only mentioned it because of that. it sucks because its stereo lol. But if this was a full out 5.1 version, my god dat would be smexy <3

http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-VSX-823-5-1-Channel-Network-Receiver/dp/B00BKXCKPO/ref=sr_1_24?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1444440541&sr=1-24&refinements=p_89%3AOnkyo%7CPioneer%2Cp_36%3A15000-30000

I really like this one, tbh. its somewhat like the one you linked. I think I'll go with this one

http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-VSX-523-5-1-Channel-Receiver-Black/dp/B00BKXCKP4/ref=sr_1_2?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1444440541&sr=1-2&refinements=p_89%3AOnkyo%7CPioneer%2Cp_36%3A15000-30000

Same thing above except with less hdmi ports and no internet capabilities.

I'll see what I can do about the subwoofer and radio IO, tbh, idk. (do you have any ideas)
