Competitive COD

Lamb

I was wondering, am I the only one here who loves competitive Call of Duty? I'm sure that there are some other people here that like it.

My favorite team is OpTic Gaming and my favorite player is NaDeSHoT (As you can see from my profile pic :P) What are your favorite teams/players?

I liek to watch but I have not really gotten into it. I would rather play the game in my spare time than watch it.

Life is pain. Anyone who says any different is either selling something or the government.

I think it is stupid, just a bunch of people sitting in corners with sub machine guns.

I somewhat agree.

You obviously haven't watched much of it. Competitive is much different than what most people think.

I haven't been that interested to be honest. Last time I saw an MLG match was on the Twitch homepage for the IGN Tournament (The IPL Right)? All it had were a ton of guys shouting and getting angry at each other.

Saw that one video from a tournament, where some teams played against each other. Shouting and trash talking. All the stereotypes about CoD players confirmed right there. I'm scared to watch more :P

Is there any pc scene for newer cods? I understood that they only play with consoles (which imo is not fps platform). I used to watch all cod4 lans when game was at its peek.

Not so much of a pc scene for CoD, it's mainly on xbox. In esports, when people think of FPS on the pc, Counter Strike is first to come to mind. CS has a fairly large scene (rumors of MLG picking it up) but it definitely wasn't as large a few years ago with source. Nothing else comes to mind.

Before BO2 I did not really have any interest in competitive call of duty. In its current state competitive cod is really fun to watch. I also think it helps that you have a team like Impact who the fans see as the "bad guys" and then you have you white knights like Optic. A little bit of Drama always makes things more interesting :).

Don’t really have a fav player but from what I have seen Optic team has a bunch of cool guys on it and Impact is always entertaining (/super talented).

P.s. I really hope that ghost continues the support for competitive that BO2 introduced.

The shouting that you may have heard in games is call outs. The players shout if they spot an enemy. They will say where the enemy is, and where he is going. Most people just get really excited and start yelling. :P

Shouting and trash talking is same with any sport and is more depending on culture and people. I have watched some lan tournament (with international teams also) and there shouting is only spotting and tactics. No trash talking. I remember when Cod4 was hot there was some really bad whining and trash talking in some UK lan resulting in to fist fight. If you have ever watched ice hockey, its same principle. Annoy opponent and they loose their cool. And we have to remember that most (not all, thank god.) cod players are age 16-19. Sadly for those who play with attitude internet fame is forever. In major pc oriented lans there are rules restricting heavy insulting against other players.

I do watch it and I like nV and I watch some Optic. But I really think that it has gone downhill. I don't like it being on xbox, I think it should have stayed on PC with Promod from CoD4 times. That is really cool to watch. That might make me sound like I hate xbox but dont being I own one lol. I just think that compeditive xbox is a joke, I just watch it for the people that are playing. If I want to watch really good play I will watch CEVO PC or Promod.

But they made it seem like it was part of playing CoD on a pro level. Like if you're good at the game, while also being good at trash talking, then you'll win.. Promoting it like that isn't right in my head. But as I said, I just saw one video, which might just want to put the whole scene in a bad light.. Personally I only watch League of Legends tournaments from time to time. In the LCS sometimes they aren't even in the same room as the other team, and if they're in the same room. You never seem them standing up from their chair shouting whatever. Even though we don't get to hear them talking, it still doesn't seem anything like the one video I saw. Generally the pro LoL players seem somewhat friendly to each other, and I believe it's the same with Dota, Starcraft and so on.. :)

This is the video I saw btw.. Even compared with hockey I think it's a little extreme :)

Edit: Oh well I forgot about all the fist fights in hockey. Might not be that extreme after all :P
