yes it's a very strong GPU and if you game at 1080p it will allow maximum settings and at least some anti-aliasing of some sort in every games (some games have rediculous settings and just can't really be ''maxed out'' on a single GPU, that's just how it is) For example if you want consistent 60FPS+ in witcher 3 you'll probably have to tweak one or two things i think...GTA 5 also have nasty settings under the ''advanced graphics'' tab and those can bring pretty much any system to it's knees, especialy if you run full anti-aliasing and shit.

 

But don't worry, your question should have been : can the R9 390 run the latest titles on very nice graphics details and image quality at good framerates, and the answer to that is YES and it can do that both at 1080p or 1440p.

 

EDIT: the build in your signature is REALLY nice, i would build something like that for myself having to start from scratch, i would recommend a 1440p Freesync monitor as a future upgrade for the R9 390, gaming at 1440p variable refresh is an AMAZING experience...worth having to tweak some settings in some games if needed, hands down.

In this optic i would try to get the 850W version of this EVGA PSU if it won't cost much more in case you want to run dual 390 which is a good idea since they have all that VRAM and memory bandwidth and while 750W is enough if you overclock both cards and the CPU you might find the PSU to be running under quite a load and it will get hot and loud. (if it won't the graphics cards WILL get hot and loud for sure, but you get my point!)

I know it's in Beta now, I just finished playing Star Wars: Battlefront after 3hours on Ultra, my R9 390 on 1080p constant 80-90fps.

And running at 72 degrees C.

At 1080p it can ultra everything with a little tweaking on the AA. At 1440p, I would says that it can ultra most games. I don't know about gta 5, but for the witcher 3 you are not going to get 60fps on ultra. With 1 gtx 980ti, I m getting around 35-40fps with the sweetfx bloom mod. This mod is supposed to impact fps by 5-10.

on 1080p yes. on 2560*1080 my 290 is sweating to stay over 60 with ultra in some games

Nice rig bro! 390 can definitely run those game in ultra setting at 1080P.Although in my opinion 8G RAM seems not enough when I play GTA5 it can hit 7GB or above,but it should be OK,totally up to you

on 1080p witcher 3 ultra maxed out without hairworks maybe like 50 fps at the least, with everything else maxed
