Stacking Ear Pads?

Go to solution Solved by ButthurtTumbleweed,

Gave up on the solutions i tried and super glued it

I decided my ATH M50s are just too uncomfortable so I looked around and got the idea to stack some more comfortable ear pads on top of the existing ones from some comment in a forum post somewhere

Buuut I can't find that post again and can't remember what they recommended I use to attach them

I got the earpads and it works for the most part but I can't figure out what I should fasten it with (im just holding them in place with the headphones at the moment)

Any suggestions?

Nails or screws. You could also take a bit of hydrochloric acid and use it to melt them together but that's a technique generally reserved for pros.

Why not buy better earpads on ebay? I'm sure you can find tons of more comfortable/thicker earpads. I sure did for my headphones, and they aren't exactly mainstream.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB / RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus / NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 / PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Win 10 Pro

I bought some more comfortable earpads

I can probably replace my current earpads with them but my ears touch the cans even with both pads stacked up (put some cotton balls under the M50 ear pads to extend it a bit)

Even if your ears touch the cans, isn't there a foam disk below the earcups on it? It shouldn't be that uncomfortable.

like the ones here

He's joking lol

Try rolling up a sheet of paper towel and placing it underneath the ear pads.

Something like moleskin would work pretty well too, I think...

Brainwavz earpads are a rather popular mod for the M50.

Though my experience with my M30X wasn't so great, the sibilance was real.

All of my headphones have more foam stuffed under the pads. I have a hell of a time finding headphones that don't make my ears cry for mercy. Any contact with my actual ear is a deal breaker. If you have some old headphones laying around, you can cannibalize the pads on them for a nice foam ring to stuff under the existing pads on your M50s.
