Worth swapping an i5 3470 for a 3770k

So i have a locked i5 3470 and was wondering if swapping it for a 3770k and ocing it to somewhere in the 4-4.2 ghz range would be a worth upgrade, Main argument i have going for this is that i will need to do quite a reasonable amount of CFD (computational fluid dynamics) over the next year.

main reason im asking is because i cant really afford to get ddr4 + 6700k/5280k + new mobo

AFAIK, CFD programs aren't too intensive. Your i5 should be fine until you have enough money for a more worthy upgrade.

So to answer your thread: no

ill keep going thing maybe post christmas ill upgrade it all,

can you afford a 4460+z97? and reuse the ram?

Wait would he take a non K CPU with a z97? And afaik the difference between 3470 and 4460 is... does it even exist? I don't see a point in that.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.
