Lagging in Minecraft, WHAT?

Hokay, now that that's out of the way.

When I run Minecraft (don't judge me, but right now I'm limping by with a generic AOC 19" 1366x768 VGA monitor until I can afford the one I want for video work) I experience a lot of lagging. If I'm underground it's fine because then I'm averaging 45-59 FPS. If I'm above ground, it drops to about 19-40 FPS. It doesn't matter if I'm playing a local game on my computer or if I'm playing on a server. I'm not sure what's going on with this. Other people seem to be averaging much, much higher FPS levels with similar settings.

Anyone got an idea of why this is?

If what I'm posting has already been posted, I'm sorry.

I would definitely try running Optifine alongside the shaders and see if playing with the settings there would yield any benefits.

..also make sure that the only version of Java you have installed is 64-bit and try allocating some more RAM.

Sig under construction.

nvm...

Yeah vsync may be doing it... I've found that with it off everything is smooth and tear-free but with it on, it actually feely choppy, heavy, and like the mouse is not on a good pad almost

That shader mod is quite hefty.

Do you use optifine? I would try that.

Java...

How much memory is allocated to MC?3-4 GBs is the best. Any more MC acts weird. Also, get optifine, it makes Minecraft run of two cores instead of 1

yes, but i have seed preformance decreases when allocating 8gb vs 2gb, although this was long time ago (the 1.5/1.6 days)

I mean the beta 1.5/1.6 or the "full" 1.5/1.6

Someone needs to tell mojang that "beta" is a label that can be applied to a certain period in development, and the removal of which does not mean you start the numbering over again :P
