i5 6500 vs i5 6600K. Is it worth the price?

So what are the key differences between these two CPUs? The 6500 sits at 200$ while the 6600K runs at 250$. Are the differences noticable? Where would I see said differences in performance? And whats better for the price you pay?

The difference would be that the 6500 is the locked one and that the 6600k will be the unlocked one - the overclockable one.

Sig under construction.

The key difference is the K. It depends if you want to overclock or not.

Is that really it? Theres no seeable differences besides that?

Depends, if youre going to be overclocking the CPU, you'll want the one with the "K" behind It. If not, then go for a locked processor (Non "K").

I know what OCing does but is it noticble with the performance difference compared to the 6500? Like is it worth the 50 extra bucks for the difference?

There wont be a performance difference unless you OC it.

Thats what Im saying. I dont plan on doing heavy Overclocking either. Temp and Lifespan is more inportant to me. Just mild OC.

At 5760x1080 the difference will be negligible between the two processors. Get the 6500 imo.

Okay thanks. I did notice one thing though. I think the 6500 is 3.3ghz compared to the stock 3.5 on the 6600. Is that important at all?

some benchmarks might show a little difference, but in reality i don't think you'll miss the 0.2 ghz

Hm, you people say the K is unlocked. But since Skylake also allows for BCLK overclocking, do you really still require a K CPU? Or are both locked on a regular CPU.

Whats BCLK overclocking? Sounds like an Engine Label on an AMG Mercedes lol

I think I will. It seems everyone thinks its the better buy of the two for the price

The Base Clock. Basically the frequency you multiply to get the effective frequency. For example 35x100.0mhz = 3.5ghz. In the old days, you have to overclock the bclk, for example overclocking from 21x133.33 to 21x200mhz. They changed it into mainly multiplier (i guess easier to lock). But now it's both multiplier and bclk. I'm not sure if bclk is locked with non-K CPU's. I'm not sure how since it's a motherboard determined frequency, i'm pretty sure some boards will unlock it anyway.
