Trying to Understand a Few Things About G-Sync, Help Me Out
Here's the deal, I and completely re-doing my computer setup and I'm stuck on this part (what's the point of getting dual SLI 980ti's and a i7-5930K if I can't really see the performance differance??). I can't decide between a triple monitor setup or a single Ultra Wide 4K monitor. That's another topic for another day. Here is my wish list for the Perfect Monitor: very thin bezel, 144hz, 1ms, 4k, 27"-28", IPS, G-Sync, Full rotation/Mountable. Now if they had that dream monitor then I'm sure it'd be like $1200 at least.
But here's my question in regards to G-Sync: I wonder if some of these G-sync 4k monitors that are 60-75 Hz make up for the lack of 144 Hz because of the G-Sync? For example, If I were to game on an ASUS VG248QE (144 HZ, 1 ms response time), would I see the same performance on a 60 - 75 HZ 4K (1-2 ms) monitor with G-Sync? The goal being trying to hit 60 fps. Obviously a 144 HZ G-Sync 4k 1 ms monitor would be the best but they don't have those.
Another question I may have, which I KNOW IS DEBATABLE: is there really a big improvement from 2560 x 1440 to 4K for gaming? I know it's personal preference and all that, but I would like to hear some other insights on this.
this is the best gaming monitor available right now IMHO

As far as i know the max you'll see for 4K monitors is 60hz, hdmi or display port won't support higher (i think, correct me if i'm wrong)...with Gsync it's smooter and no tearing, it's really worth it...50FPS is very playable with Gsync on where as it feel sluggish without it...and 80FPS Gsync or higher is liquid smooth like you've never seen anything THAT smooth...
Havent tried 4K yet, but from what i see 27'' 1440p is a real sweet spot the increase going from 1080p to 1440p is huge and the performance is still overall pretty good.
Here is just for fun so you understand 1440p bring a 77.7% pixel increase, this is my 1440p desktop with a centered 1920x1080 wallpaper...your icons and taskbar and stuff all fit in there, now look around, that's what you are missing.

for 30'' or less i wouldnt go 4K as i feel the difference would be little, nothing 2xMSAA couldnt get rid of anyways...if you go 60'' TV's or something NOW the difference would be noticeable a lot more IMHO.
144 Hz is possible at 4k, but IPS at 144 Hz? Nope. The display type can't be driven at such low latencies.
it's the other way around:
144hz IPS 1440p Gsync:

and i have yet to see any 4K display that can do more than 60hz (correct me if i'm wrong)
