Install or not to install Windows 10 ?

Yesss, memory management much better than Windows 7 and 8. GPU drivers are considerably more stable when OC'ing. Boot times are much quicker than 7 (slightly faster than 8.1). Took about a month for me to get some audio drivers, but they're *now* good. The command prompt just got several billion new and useful features. Notifications are several years too late, but they're finally here. Anybody worried about privacy invasion needs to stop using a cellular phone before they get concerned about *the man* finding out about your illegal downloading and porn habits. Virtual desktops (as the rest of the world has been calling them for about 10 years) have arrived natively. 
AND IT'S FREE!!

Seriously though, unless you're running a 'Vista-spec' laptop, that runs at Sub-Saharan temperatures, or you were on some kind of drugs, and bought a laptop with a hybrid graphics unit, then you should really be upgrading.

I didn't install because an audio engineer I need to have everything working 100% perfectly. So, I always wait about a year or so, with that being said, I'm less than thrilled with the way it handles updates, if that will never change then I'll never update.

I wonder how many people complaining about memory leaks are running 8 gigs or less of ram and using Chrome and other programs at the same time. I haven't had much of an issue with 10 on my desktop at all. I thought it was the problem on my laptop but now I am leaning towards a dying primary hd.

I wonder how many people complaining about memory leaks are running 8 gigs or less of ram and using Chrome and other programs at the same time. I haven't had much of an issue with 10 on my desktop at all. I thought it was the problem on my laptop but now I am leaning towards a dying primary hd.

My desky has 6GB of RAM (2Gb x3 - old Core i7 930), and I have no problems. I don't use Chrome.

The only issue I have is on my Surface Pro 2, on rare occasion I have 'System' consuming 50% of the CPU. A reboot fixes it. And the touch keyboard doesn't move up the window, and most of the time doesn't show up automatically. This is on the latest beta build of Windows 10 (too many problems with the official build with my Surface Pro 2 sadly).

Surface 3 (non-Pro) users have it worse. The touch screen is not usable. Out of no where your taps registers continuously until you reboot the system as right-clicks under Windows 10. No idea if the problem is fixed in the latest beta build. That is what I am reading.

I notice windows 10 seems to use less ram then 8.1 was on my main system, right now with 6 tabs open in chrome i am only using 3.9 gigs. Granted I got 32 gigs of ram for when I am doing really heavy workloads.

Nooooooo. Memory leaks, problems launching steam games, driver issues, compatibility issues with software for peripherals, and much much more!

I haven't a single issue as of yet. We'll see once I get a 380, though...

Have you tried properties>compatibility mode? Bioshock didn't have functioning audio for me until I did that.

Just keeping this here as a I have a 660ti and have no problems.

Try changing your sound outputs in windows and sleep/wake the computer. I do this when watching youtube with my headphones or through my speakers, and I always sleep my computer when I leave it, knowing I will come back the same day. I guarantee you get a notification that nvidia drivers have stopped responding and have been recovered...

I am going to put my vote in for. NO. Do not upgrade....Yet. Also roommate, our friend and I all did inplace upgrades.

 

My roommate, our friend and I have issues with windows 10 where it will just decide it no longer wants to switch audio outputs. (needs to be restarted to fix)

I have had it blue screen.(never blue screened on 7)

My roommate and me have had it just stop opening applications, or just wont acknowledge that you clicked something.

It runs out of memory just sitting there overnight.(only happened once but still)

 

 

But yea other then this it has been fine. I think. I only use it to game otherwise i'm on linux. I switch audio outputs too much to deal with it every day.

It woke from sleep just fine. Just tried it, nothing happened.

Just wait and see. It will after a few sleeps... I think I am kind of harsh on win10 compared to the well-updated windows 7 install I had previously.
