H100i GTX vs Cryorig H5 Universal?

I intend to overclock my PC to the best performance. But I've seen the comparison charts and the $40 range cooler seems to be 69 degrees(5960x 4.5ghz oc). I am going to use a 6600k and I don't want my cpu to overheat a lot.

that is a bit of a strange comparison. one is over twice the price of the other.

Really go with whatever is cheapest, since Skylake is plagued with shit paste under the IHS having a better cooler wont make that big of a difference anyway.

If you have the space and decent airflow, a quality air cooler like the Noctua NH-D15/Phanteks TC14_PE etc would be a better choice due to lower cost, less noise and the fact that it has 0% chance to leak any form of liquid, unlike an AIO cooler.

The paste is excellent and better than most thermal materials available. The high temps since soldered ihs' are due to the gap above the die caused by a rubber adhesive around the die and not the thermal paste.

Between the two coolers, the H100i gtx performs much better but is might not worth the extra money for a bit of a higher oc.

The H5 is already plenty to for a decent oc though.

Except thats not true, it's plagued with the same issue as Ivy Bridge, delidding dropped like 15c on average.

Even with soldered IHS, if you de-lid you get better temps. @RedLineGamer I would buy the H5 and use the money you saved to send your chip to siliconlottery.com

Delidding it lowers temps by lessening the gap. It's not due to the thermal material switch. When the original gap is maintained after delidding with a spacer and aftermarket thermal pastes, temps are usually a few degrees worse than stock. It's a misconception that Intel uses bad thermal material for IvyB to current CPU's.

Even with soldered IHS, if you de-lid you get better temps. @RedLineGamer I would buy the H5 and use the money you saved to send your chip to siliconlottery.com

Uh..no. Where'd you get that idea? Delidding a soldered ihs is very dangerous and can damage the die. There also isn't much that's better a soldered ihs other than a bare die.

I still cant decide!!!! Overclocking is really important for me.

P.S. Air coolers seem to be really large, so im considering the H100i GTX, but is it worth it?
