Tracert?

Hi, recently I was asked to perform a tracert, and I don't have any idea what that is, can anyone help?

Open command prompt and type "tracert somewebsite.com" and it will show you the path connecting you to that website. It can be useful for finding out where the problem is when you can't connect to websites. It stands for "trace route".

I think that is when you trace a website in CMD and see what kind of IP's it goes through to go to the website..

Seem to remember something like that, but not sure.

This is great, it was actually for my mom who needed to do it because my dad is away in our NH house without wifi, and he is a web developer at her company. I just knew I would get a quick response on here so I told her I could handle it.
