Cpu overclocking is always worth it.  :P

If it is just page file increases that's completely normal and OK (aka huge system usage with everything else fairly low.) In fact, to lesser and greater extents it's been a feature since Vista.

As you load more programs that need ram now, it basically just dumps the system usage down.

EDIT: 2GB ram is really awful. Most games now require 4GB at least, and I'd never recommend less than 8. Officially Windows 10 supports anything over 1GB ram, but I doubt very much it will be smooth with 2 GB. (mainly because everything else you do now assumes you have 4+ GB.)

You need to buy some more ram, 2gb today are not enough, 4 are meh. 8 gigs have become the new standard.

Also you cant overclock the cpu on this mobo. you will need a z/p mobo in order to overclock

Windows 10 is a RAM hog, what is your usage?

post-225630-0-64678500-1444231068_thumb.

Much usage....

Also 9% total... 3GB in use. Obviously no ram space saving features on.

I have a feeling I missed something. I asked because what might be high for them is actually normal. So I wanted to see if they had an issue or just needed to buy some RAM.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

I was just noting that Windows 10 really isn't a ram hog lol... Now 2GB of ram is nothing so I'd be willing to be anything startup programs alone could eat through that (seeing as most people don't disable on startup.)

A better example is this. I have perhaps 50 MB of windows ram usage you can't see here buried in background processes, but look at the total from my "Windows" processes. Maybe 300 MB? The power of clean installs and not adding bad programs is strong...

With everything off I'm using 2.2g of ram to run windows 10. For the OP that's 36.67% of their ram used. I'd call that high as well for idle. Hech, that's 13.75% for me.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Oh well LOL he should be super fine. Here is my result! Note: I had task manager open to do this and I didn't disable cortana or anything related to nvidia because x99 problems....

I forgot to maximize task manager so my monitor background made the screenshot too large to upload directly, as a result you don't get a time stamp, but it should be fairly obvious this was just done now.

I'm still confused. Yes you can conserve ram usage, that's not the topic. The topic is figuring out if the OP has a problem, or 6g of ram and window 10.

They have 6g of ram and windows 10 from the information provided so far.

It was an aside about you mentioning how much of a ram hog Win10 was. I just disagreed lol.

If everything was working properly, 6GB should be more than plenty.

That isn't great, but it isn't terrible (it's certainly low enough to work fine). What is the extra usage from?

That isn't great, but it isn't terrible (it's certainly low enough to work fine). What is the extra usage from?

hmm you must have an insane number of total processes, because my total usage is lower than yours by about .4 GB but I have chrome alone using almost .8 GB of ram.

I would go through your processes and kill everything that isn't windows or amd related and then only start up the programs you want to run (temporarily disabling everything from running at startup) just to see what happens.

You should get down to about 2 GB total useage with just windows and amd tasks (including background tasks that are windows/dll related)

Compare the numbers we have but then note mine only adds up to 3.2 GB

Either way if max usage during gaming only reaches 4.5-4.8 you are probably fine and I wouldn't worry about it too much.
