Normal temperatures for FX-8350 in H100?

Go to solution Solved by Likwid,

You can try to change thermal compound

I've been using a H100 to cool my FX-8350 @ stcock in a HAF X for quite a while now and I recently checked the temperatures and they were hovering at around 60 degrees while idle and 75 on full load. Is this normal for such a good cooler? I cleaned out my system a few days ago and I didn't see much of an improvement. I use some Arctic fans on the radiator which doesn't seem to react to the fan control on the H100, is this why the system runs hot? Also the air that comes out of the radiator is not very hot at all compared to what the CPU temps are.

The system is about 2-3 years old.

I have the H55 on mines and I get about 30ish on idle and 55-58c on load. I have my H55 with two AF 120mm High Performance in a push/pull on the rad. But 60C on idle on your system? something must be wrong in your system.

The sensor isn't built into the CPU so its not that accurate, how hot does the the air coming out of the radiator feel?

Too hot IMO. My FX-8320 @ 4 GHz 1.3V goes to 50-ish degrees at 100% load with a CNPS9900 air cooler.

There is definetely something wrong with your system!

At least, I think there is.

Good idea. When I examined the waterblock I noticed that it was loose. One of the hitches didn't catch the socket. I secured the block back down and started the system up again to see if it did any good. No change at all. So I removed it and saw this:

I guess this explains it as well as the fans maybe not doing optimally as well. Unfortunately I don't have any thermal compound, but I do have the stock cooler and it's been in the biscuit box since I got the cpu. I bought it together with the H100 so the thermal compound should be in mint condition.

I installed it and the temperatures are now at 37 on idle and around 50 on load.

I think the reason it was unhatched is because I remember replacing the thermal compound long ago, I guess I didn't install it properly that time.
