Recycling Your Electronics

*cough* ltt forum *cough*

Even in the forum, there isn't (I don't think) a specific area for "recycling" old tech. There's the classifieds, but that requires filling out the listing information etc.

I was thinking more along the lines of "Here are old computer parts, anybody want them?", which is minimal effort on the OP's part.

I thought you where going to show us how to reclaim the metals from the pcbs. @LinusTech @Slick

I remember reading somewhere that it is possible to get back the gold and other various metals buy dissolving the pcb.

Steve Wozniak - "Never trust a computer you can't throw out a window."                                                                                                                                               Carl Sagan - "If you want to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first create the universe."

I have a recycling center right down the road from me.

I just say "I got some old electronics here" and they point to a dumpster and I toss them in.

They take care of the rest.

Pretty easy for me.

A lot of even broken items just sell for a few bucks on Ebay and such. Phones for the battery/screen/...

Also shoutout for dban.org as a tool for wiping harddrives.

@nicklmg I think it should be pointed out that true key by intel security is actually produced by mcafee

since mcafee has a notion of being bloatware I dont feel comfortable with this product placement

Its all about those volumetric clouds

YAY, a video about what to do with old clobber :)

Honestly though, was expecting acid dips, de-soldering, taking relevant parts and sticking them into your cyborg bodies.

Its not my fault I am grumpy, you try having a porcelain todger that's always hard!

Linus how could you not do a video about melting them down with acid for the gold in them?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

As interesting as that is; I highly doubt a majority of the viewers would actually do that. There's too much involved with little return. I'm sure there are videos out there though that show you; if you're interested. This video seems the more likely route most will take.

Besides this:

I know Intel has been working closely with Microsoft on quite a few fronts lately, so it may have something to do with that partnership.

Totally uninformed on that topic though, just speculation on my part.
