Microsoft Surface Book announced at Microsoft 2015 Hardware Event - NVIDIA GPU, Lastest Intel Chips

Still think its ridiculous that they weren't upfront with the price of the dedicated gpu version. I wonder what GPU they intend on throwing into the machine.

Pretty much every company in existence markets products with it's lowest price.

Them prices...

Pretty cheap given the consumers they're marketing to.

At least they included the pen this time..

hmmm, not many improvements over my Surface Pro 3 it seems. Good, otherwise I would have upgraded again.....

Although that Surface Book still looks a bit odd, the design is a lot worse then the really stylish looking Surfaces and the hinge looks really weird.

It's an ultrabook, it's not too much intended for heavy gaming or heavy workloads

They're advertising the machine as a workhorse. I'm hoping that it at least has a mid range GPU.

hmm pricing for both top end models is the same, interesting. I guess someone could REALLY want a kickstand and smaller screen haha

Also I wonder how they got the bigger book lighter than the pro 4.

Price is a bit high still but I'm game if they have better battery life.

I agree on the price, I just paid an arm and a leg for my surface pro 3 with an i7 and 500gb ssd

My question is, what's with the really odd resolutions?

You know what's easier than buying and building a brand new PC? Petty larceny!
If you're worried about getting caught, here's a trick: Only steal one part at a time. Plenty of people will call the cops because somebody stole their computer -- nobody calls the cops because they're "pretty sure the dirty-bathrobe guy from next door jacked my heat sink."

3:2 Aspect Ratio.

Also @shermantanker you might wanna add the Type cover 4 outright doesnot have the fingerprint sensor. Only a special, black one which cost 30 USD more has it

Keeps the aspect ratio closer to A4, making it easier to write on and to read. Apple uses a similar aspect ratio on the iPads.

Yeah I was looking on their store for any type cover info, but didn't see it update yet. I credit you in there until I find out more.

Ah, somehow I missed that. But surely they could have used a cleaner resolution on the surface pro 4. I mean, 2763x1824?

my point is that the surface is meant to be a portable device, not a device you use 24/7 andif imwrong well that's not smart of them because the keyboard and mouse pad are really bad, and for the ridiculous price they are asking, im going to pick up an iPad or iPad Pro, save myself 500 dollars and i can use the same software I would use on a Surface. Cause i would use office, email and to browse my email. im not gonna game on it. And its priced like its meant for gaming. And tbh, apples idea of the IPad pro impresses me. and the prefomance that you can get out of it while being a mobile OS and with Mobile cpu, is more interesting to me. And so for the first time ever, the iPad Pro is cheaper than a windows Surface.

200$ more for a SSD upgrade wtf ....

maybe its soldered :|

anyways the hinge is ugly :/ but i really would like if there is a 15.4inch version at 1080p with a normal hinge

Microsoft always focused on productivity. 3000x2000 resolution should be idea for productivity.

My Surface Pro 2 is 1080p, and my old work display was 1080p, and I feel soo cramp. It's frustrated. At home I have 16:10 (1920x1200), so it is very comfortable to use.
