Best CPU for FM2+ Socket

Go to solution Solved by Ihaveswag,

they are the same CPUs, except that the 860k has FM2+, the advantage is that you can have PCIe 3.0 instead of 2.0, not more. Get whatever has the higher clock speed

PS: My brother runs the 760k on a A88XM-A FM2+ board and also has S-ATA III, only PCIe 3.0 lanes wont get utilized and run at  2.0

Hi guys, I'm currently in the process of upgrading my computer. I've got all the parts except the CPU because it still isn't arriving. It got me thinking about the CPU I should buy. My original choice was the Athlon X4 760K and my plan was to overclock it. But I was wondering if there was a better CPU (for example going for an A10 or something). Could you guys help me out? :)

I would go for the 860k over the 760k, but what are you wanting do to with this PC and what do you already have?

Sig under construction.

Don't get an APU if you are gonna use a discrete GPU. Get a 860k, it's newer.

Currently have an A8 7650k and it works great. OC'd to 4.0ghz w/ stock cooling straight outta the box

Although I do recommend getting a different cooler for the CPU as it runs hot with AMD's stock cooling

my brother has a gtx 560 and 760k and plays games like BF4, CS:GO without any problems. High end PC hardware is so overrated

I would go for the 860k over the 760k, but what are you wanting do to with this PC and what do you already have?

Thank you for the reply. I've already got the graphics card (ASUS GeForce GTX 750Ti), the motherboard (A78M-E35), the RAM (8GB Crucial Ballistix Soprt, single DIMM) and other things like the case and the PSU or the hard drive.
