Help me upgrade my rig

Hi guys. So my Asrock z77 extreme 4 motherboard died on me last Thursday and I can't find anyone selling z77 boards. The decision I made is to upgrade my rig to haswell or skylake. Is it better to upgrade to a 4690k or a 6600k, any thoughts?

IMO go for Haswell. it's cheaper on the CPU and the Mobo. but if Skylake is around the same price as the Haswell, take it.

So I did a little research and it turns out that I have to change my memory to ddr4. Any thoughts on performance and such?

Performance wont be a huge hit.. but... Future *Proofness* is with DDR4 I doubt DDR3 will still be very common a year or two from now.. you could probably get a 7000 series CPU later on if you're an upgrade freak like me.

You can overclock with the h170 motherboards you even can with the b150 but the difference is the quality of the chokes and capacitor, power delivery, ease of use, features and so on

I'll look into it if vendors here in PH have them.

Problem is I the only mobo they sell here is an ECS h77 board. Probably going to upgrade to an i5-4690k.

Skylake! Then you can hopefully get Cannonlake which will let you get 8-cores! :3 (if Intel does not screw you with new socket in 2017...)

if you wana upgrade im not going to try and stop you, i say go for it... but newegg 'does' have the same board you had 'in stock'...

$145 is a bit much for an older board i think, but it would still be cheaper then upgrading pretty much your entire PC...

and if you do upgrade, i think its a pretty common theme on these forums that the new 6th gen CPUs is the way to go if your just gaming... and if you need a 6 core or more... then you need the last gen CPUs... 

 

but if you looking between a 4690k or a 6600k (both quad cores) you might as well the the 6600k... imo...
