Pixel Overclocking

MChezba11

I have an old Dell P2210, and I was wondering about overclocking it. Its normal stock speed is at 158 Mz and have took it to 178 Mz and it looks hella much better and it seems a lot smoother. There is no artifacting or tearing (which there used to be a lot of tearing before I overclocked it, especially with YouTube for some odd reason.) So with that being said, should I keep going? If so how far should I go before something goes wrong, and how will I know?

You're changing the monitor refresh rate?

Most monitors only support a maximum of 60Hz (60 screen updates per second), beyond that it won't be making any difference.

Well if the data rate exceeds, the screen should blank out. Nothing is hurt in the process.

the fact that most only go up to 60 is the very reason you might want to overclock it.  Depending on the panel, you could hit 70 or 80 Hz, which some people (like Linus) claim is much better.  This is very ... I don't want to say dangerous, but... let's say uncharted territory.  Be careful :)

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Thanks everybody. So far I have taken it to 200 Mz with a refresh rate of 80, and its working just fine (looks so much better too.) I think I am just gonna leave it at that. Although I am having a problem. Windows isn't realizing that the resolution has changed and its not 'adapting' to it (its only doing it with the home screen.) So its not showing my shortcuts and stuff but they are still there. Its just they are being 'processed' off screen. Any fixes?
