I wonder if it is doing it to slip under the radar and cause actual issues in the future. I heard a case where there was malware that would remove other malware so it could do its thing without being noticed

Fairly sure the point of a vigilante is to step in when the law enforcement is inadequate. In this case, that is Wifi passwords not being very secure, the law enforcement has literally nothing to do with it

He/she seems like they're trying to be helpful but it is still a bit, er,  frowned upon by law enforcement to mess with other people's wifi crap.

Just a clarification: This malware changes the password of Telnet ports on the routers that are often badly protected. So it is not your WiFi password.

 

OT: It sounds really awesome, I just hope the creator doesn't use it like a traditional botnet (because it is actually a botnet, it has P2P connectivity for updates). Would be awesome if someone actually did something like this for people just because. Just to make the world a better place
