Gigabyte 980 G1 Gaming in SLI issue

Freakniik
Go to solution Solved by Freakniik,

i think that nvidia control panel on 3D settings tab has something t disable or enable Sli for specific apps

Solved, Just returned to factory clocks. Now everything is fine

So recently i upgraded my personal rig from 780ti to dual 980s in SLI.

The problem: Every application and game in windows 10 does get rendered properly or flicker.

What i did: 1. test each card indivually (they turned out to be working fine)

                   2. test the power connection to see any faulty ones (nothing wrong here)

                   3. test 3 different sli bridges (still had the same issue)

                   4. double checked the setting inside "Nvidia control panel" (Maximize 3D performance checked)

                   5. checked the clock speeds (they match, YET the bios version is different which baffles me)

Specs: CPU: i7-4770k liquid cooled @4.5GHz OC

             Motherboard: Asus TUF Sabertooth Z87

RAM: 32GB Kingston HyperX fury @1600MHz

GPU: Gigabyte 980 G1 Gaming @ stock clocks in 355.98 Driver (latest driver)

             SSD: Kingston Savage 250GB

             HDD: 2 x WD black 4TB

             PSU: Corsair AX1200i

            Case: CM Storm Trooper

Help needed please

I have also two Gigabyte G1 GTX 980s in SLI.

Don't worry about the BIOS version. The ones on my cards are different, too.

Have you tried to use an older driver version?

Also deactivate and activate SLI again if you haven't done that.

Try the sli bridge on the 2nd connectors if you haven't already. Flickering is usually caused by the sli bridge or drivers.I got mine to flicker one time and i just moved the sli ribbon from the 1st connectors to the 2nd set. Problem was fixed.

It does not flicker if i move it to the 1st connectors so it's just some random thing i guess.

Try to reinstall the driver (the latest would be better) selecting clean install. Also, games and apps need some extra softwares to work fine like Directx, Visual c++ library, Frameworck check if they are present.

a problem i use to have before: when the windows is not activated the performance is just horrible so check this out too ??

the games work fine with a single GPU, but as soon as i turn the sli on the softwares get messy and flickery (only inside the application) like firefox and windows calculator
