so sli make the 2 gpu become one...i see thanks

It makes one card (always the one in the PCIe lane closest to the CPU) the primary/master card, and makes the other one the slave card. The master card does the display output and manages pulling from vRAM storage to draw frames. The slave card has the data in vRAM mirrored from the first card and just sends frames to the master card. The master card is essentially performing the most work, with the slave card lending a hand. 

Yes but only in SLI not Crossfire as AMD GPU's must have all displays connected into one card.

Edit: For some AMD cards you can use a display port hub to achieve output to more than 3 displays

In SLI, all monitors must be connected to the primary card. 

 

Without MST, the maximum is 4 monitors with SLI

It won't display anything. It's a limitation for how SLI works. If you have two cards, but not in SLI, you can use both, but having them in SLI means you can only use the primary card for display outputs.

They both do it I believe. I know for a fact that enabling SLI means you can't use both cards for display outputs. If you try, the displays on the second card are disabled. 

 

EDIT: Also, that page shows that you can only use the primary card for cards in SLI

If you have an additional GPU outside of the SLI cards, you can use that for display outputs.
