2 x 4Gb or 1 x 8Gb of Ram?

Go to solution Solved by Jacktastic-Mofo,

I've had 1x8, 2x8, 2x4, and now 4x4 and I haven't seen a difference in performance at all. If you plan on upgrading in the future to 32GB's of RAM than go with the 1x8 but if you only really see yourself ever using a max of 16GB's go with the 2x4. (personally I think it looks better.)

Just as the title says, what should i get?  does it make a big difference?

If you plan on getting more than 16GB in its lifetime then 1*8. However, 2*4 makes more sense with that board.

no, the biggest difference would be to the maximum amount of ram you could put into the system. either way would be fine.

I know of one user who stands by that dual channel makes a huge difference if you have lots of tabs open. However, going with 4GB*2 limits upgrading later on. 4GB*4 gives a maximum capacity of 16GB, while 8GB*4 gives a maximum capacity of 32GB.

Dual channel is a thing, and a lonely stick of memory never looks sexy.

I was going to upgrade it later...

the NEX is one of the not-so-great EVGA PSU lines, something like a GS would be a good alternative, or the Seasonic suggested earlier

It's not the best but it's not the worst.  The SeaSonic G is much better.

Bad build quality, Bad capacitors, bad voltage regulation.  Take a look at this article.

Looser voltage regulation and worse quality than the GS/B2 that cost less or the same-ish.

Generally no. Antec's High Current Gamer, EVGAs G2/GS/B2 and Seasonic's S12 are much better value.

EVGA : GS/G2/B2. I think the P2 can also be found for $99 today and today only.

Seasonic: S series or G series

Antec High Current Gamer - probably the worst option on the list but still a great PSU.
