Questions for Shure SE215 Owners

Suika

I'm so freaking torn between the SE215 and Momentum In Ears. I'm leaning towards the SE215 for superior sound quality, but my only objection to them is durability, I've heard nothing but bad things about durability, and I refuse to use or recommend any IEMs that can't last a year. Even if it's just a cable, if I can't have it run flawless for a year, it does not meet my standard and I have no interest in the IEM.

Anyway, just a couple quick questions if you own or have owned them.

How long have you had them? At least in use, if they've been sitting on a shelf for the past five months then don't include that time.

What kind of use did they see? Did you use them once a day, all day, at the gym, dropped them bunches of time, etc?

How long did they last before breaking, if at all? If you made a warranty claim or replaced the wires, then I'm asking for the time between purchase and the claim.

Do you recommend them? Pretty self explanatory.

Do you recommend anything else? Also self explanatory.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

I have the SE-215s I think they are the bass heavy version (blue) I've had them for over a year now and no problems, I use them regularly and take no special care, most of the time when I'm done using them I just throw them into a drawer.

I put mine through hell somewhat with playing in a band and stuff. A friend currently has my pair and they still work.

I bought them maybe three-ish years ago? They get used almost every day.

I personally recommend them, yes.

They do have slightly elevated bass, although I don't know if I would call it bass heavy :P

I gave my girlfriend a pair and she really doesn't take very good care of them. They're still in perfect condition, after a year. A friend of mine has also had a pair of them since launch that he takes with him everywhere, and they are also in perfect condition.

The really don't have durability issues as long as you don't plug and remove the cable all the time. Leave the cable be, and you won't have any issues at all with them. They are really a durable headphone, you just have to leave the cable in, and you won't have any issues.

Also, I've owned both the SE425 and 535, and I didn't have issues with either, and I owned both for about a year each.

Hey! New SIgnature!

I'm supposedly a person on the Internet, but you'll never know if I'm human or not ;)

I borrowed an SE215 for a few weeks. My problem with it was the cable being so freaking bulky. I honestly don't consider them a real option for portable use.

Recently bought a Momentum in-ear and pleased with the sound. I wouldn't say the SE215 has superior sound quality as you did in your OP, just a different sound signature. Treble is a lot clearer than the internet led me to believe, and dat bass doe. I can't speak for long-term durability obviously, but I have snagged it more times than I would care to admit. Once I truly thought there was no chance they survived, but they did.

They are very durable, as long as you don't disconnect the cable too much. I think they are a great choice, they are my back up headphones and they served me well when I couldn't afford to replace my broken / old CIEMS ( which has now been replaced, so I don't use the shures anymore).

I have a 2019 macbook pro with 64gb of ram and my gaming pc has been in the closet since 2018
