SSD Question

ApexVasii

So how would I make my important files be downloaded on the SSD so it can load faster when I need it? A lot of people say put it on the SSD, few ever say how.

an SSD won't effect downloads (or probably won't) it's most likely going to be your network that is the bottleneck. unless you're on google fibre or something.

but yes, what kind of "important files"

If you download something for example with Chrome, it will automatically go onto your C: drive.

Then you obviously have to move it out of there on your SSD or install it on your SSD.

What kind of "important files"?

Huge files, such as League of Legends and the OS. What were you thinking?

When installing the program, just make sure it installs to the C:/ or whatever drive letter.

So how do I find the C:/ of the SSD? Sorry I'm kinda new.

what?

huh?

Oh, so it only affects the loading times if I were to launch it?

Refer to my first quote for your second question.

So..how do I install it on my SSD.

When installing a program, make sure it goes to whatever volume the SSD shows up in the filesystem.

Yes but how, you must treat me like a baby. This land is foreign to me.

Surely you know how to tell a computer to install a program when it prompts you for it, right? That little "browse..." button that you see on almost every installer? It's pretty much a requisite for installing programs!

I wasn't thinking anything. You just said important files. The term can have multiple meanings. In regards to your OS, during installation, you can choose the location that you want the OS to be stored on. Same goes with League of Legends. You should be able to choose the location and by default, that location is C:.

So..how do I install it on my SSD.

  1. Download
  2. Double-click the .exe file of whatever program you've downloaded
  3. Click on custom installation or something like that
  4. Change installation path to your SSD
  5. Install

Do you have a current computer to which you would be adding the SSD?  Or is this for a new build?

Hey there ApexVasii,

Have you installed a SSD on your system yet or you are about to purchase one and yet to install it?
Usually people install a SSD in their systems, do a complete fresh install of the OS on it and then install all the demanding applications and games on it. The boot partition that holds your OS is by default the C drive so whenever you are asked where to install something, you simply point to the C drive. Do have in mind that gaming relies on the storage's performance only for the loading times and autosaves. FPS and graphics stay completely unaffected.
What is your current setup?

In that case I would recommend installing your SSD in your computer with no other storage drives, install the OS on it as per the install wizard and after you are done with it, connect all other storage drives and assign letters to all of the partitions. Your C partition would be the SSD (if you don't create a second one on it) so everything that is installed on the C drive will go to the SSD. :) Usually applications ask where should they be installed and the C drive is the default one.
