Bandwidth Traffic Control

Char_Biggu

How come my brother is able to play HD youtube videos on his ipad without buffering while it takes me forever to load a video on my computer when I do it at the same time?  Is there a way to make my computer a higher priority on the router?  Would be nice if I didn't get 300 ping in CS:GO when he's watching youtube videos at the same time.

I use a LAN cable btw.  Though I don't use it all the time since it barely reaches my computer.

There can be such a feature to limit the bandwidth to particular devices but its a router by router thing.

For that you would need to set up some QoS :) most consumer or ISP routers cant do advanced stuff - so the easiest way would be to limit your wifi speed if possible on the network that your brother connects to :D

Might also be your MTU that is set wrong on your router - if you have your own router connected to your ISPs modem/router, you need to research the settings yourself - if you are using a router supplied by your ISP, try calling them and have them check its settings in this regard. :)
