By 2050, human-on-robot sex could be more common than human-on-human sex

Source 1: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/458783-by-2050 OP: jos

Source 2: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/news/11898241/By-2050

  • speculated by futurologist Dr. Ian Pearson

  • report was released in partnership with Bondara, one of the UK’s leading sex toy shops

  • refers to the fact that vibrators (robotic sex toys) have been used for around a century, and that virtual reality porn is about to become mainstream

  • speculates that

    • by 2030, most people will have some form of virtual sex as casually as they browse porn today

    • by 2035 the majority of people will own sex toys that interact with VR sex

    • some forms of robot sex will appear in high-income, wealthy households as soon as 2025

    • robot sex to overtake human-human in 2050

    • leisure spending could grow by a factor of 5, sex market in 20 years could be 3 times bigger than today and 7 times bigger by 2050

    • UK sex toy market will account for over 1 billion pounds of spending

  • claims that over a quarter of current internet searches are related to porn (does not specify what “related” entails)

  • extrapolates that this means those searches will “almost certainly” be used for sex in the future

  • sex toy market has been growing by 6% every year (does not specify for how many years)

  • Dr. Pearson believes that, like porn, once many people begin using sex robots it will become normalised

  • “A lot of people will still have reservations about sex with robots at first but gradually as they get used to them, as the AI and mechanical behaviour and their feel improves, and they start to become friends with strong emotional bonds, that squeamishness will gradually evaporate.”

  • “While some people will enthusiastically embrace relationship-free robot sex as soon as they can afford one, as early as 2025, it won’t have much chance of overtaking sex with humans overall until 2050.”

Ohh nice. Didn't know there were colored mic grills like that. Followup question- did you buy it because it was the right mic for the job, or the orangest mic for the job? :D

They provided a sample back when I did the review. I decided to use it for the show because it sounds pretty damn good, it's orange, and I happen to have a compatible arm mount for it.

Can we PLEASE get rid of the water mark over Luke's head??? I can't stop staring at it.

There's no reason to have a water mark AND a lower third.

The Biohazard filtration system for the Tesla X... Instantly thought it was more for questionable air quality in the car... Perhaps after curry night

Fun Show.

I just realised that I now feel like my weekend is not complete until I've seen the WAN Show.

About midday Saturday, local time, I pop on to you tube just to see if it's uploaded yet.

It's 1:15:00(ish) of my weekend well spent.

Is it likely to expand to a 5 person panel?

If so, Linus, you'll have to give the boys some more air-time experience.

Though I imagine the panel experience would be a bit like herding cats.

lol

Ugh, Linus' definition of over priced is just wrong. Just because a product doesn't have a competitor with the same specs for less money, doesn't mean that the product is not overpriced. The Razer Blade, Surface Pro 4, and any Apple product are all overpriced because they cost way more than the hardware on the inside.

i7 3770K @4.3Ghz, H100, 16GB RAM, Windforce 780Ti & 680, HyperX 3K 120GB SSD, Seagate 500GB, WD 2TB Black, Asus Z-77 V-PRO, Some ODD, 3X 24" 1080P
