Looking for a GPU

KNG HOLDY

Hi Guys,

im looking for a quiet GPU that can handle current triple A Titles (1080p) on High/Ultra.

I would pref. to Spend about 250€~.

Heres another silly Question I bought an AMD GPU once and it reached 80°C within Seconds on Idle (~5 Yrs ago) are they still that hot in idle? :D

PS: Im currently using a Watercooled GTX 580 should i sell it with Stockcooler or would u sell it with a Waterblock on it?

Find a buyer for your 580 who will buy it with the waterblock (it'll be worth more). Then buy a used R9-390 or new 380.

Intel Core i7-6700K | Corsair H105 | Asus Z170I PRO GAMING | G.Skill TridentZ Series 16GB | 950 PRO 512GB M.2

Asus GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB STRIX OC | BitFenix Prodigy (Black/Red) | XFX PRO Black Edition 850W

r9 290, r9 390 etc.

If your amd card went to 80 on idle the heatsink didnt make proper contact, the fan was defektive or the sensor was faulty.

iirc the 390 performs slightly better than the 970 and is cheaper in some regions.

1. Cant go wrong with either Sapphire or MSI.

2. 600W should be enough, but its cutting it rather close, AMD cards draw quite alot of power.

Ryzen 7 3700x, MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX, 16GB Ballistix Elite 3600MHz, MSI RTX 2070 Super Gaming X Trio, Corsair RM750x V2

XFX= Full cover waterblock available. Good clockers usually, and cooling is sufficient for core, but not stellar, and VRM's tend to get hot

Sapphire= No water block available, but has excellent air cooling. Require 8+8 pin connectors versus 8+6. Some would prefer that, in hopes of obtaining higher OC results, but unfortunately OC results so far on the Nitro and Tri-X are only mediocre-good

Gigabyte= No waterblocks. Well built card, decent cooling, but the voltage is hard locked, so expect clock ceiling to be very limited... most likely 1100 or less.

PowerColor= Offers full cover waterblocks, and also has excellent air cooling, but so far there have only been weak-mediocre-ish overclocking results. 1150 or less on the core seems to be the norm, with most landing between 1130-1140, even despite it's excellent cooling.

MSI= No full cover waterblocks available. Stock air cooling is good but not great with regards to the core temps, but seems to be very good for the VRM temps. So far, these seem to have the best overclocking results. Most poeople hitting 1160-1200

Asus= (DCU2) Full cover block available. Not much info on these, but theyappears to use the same cooler as the 290 series, which was a poor performing cooler. I have seen very few purchasing the Asus card. Overclock results seem to be average so far, but have very little data to make a general claim.

Asus= (Strix) Unsure on waterblocks with these... stock cooling is good. Very little OC information, but from what I have seen, they are average. Probably in line with Sapphire when it comes to binning.

Nope. So far only reference designs get full cover waterblocks. The nexxos gpx isn't a full cover block though. Only the gpu core is watercooled, the rest of the components are passively cooled by that big heatsink.

400W is fine for a 290 :P

600W is plenty for a 390

btw i got this psu:

http://www.fudzilla.com/reviews/item/18885

it just got 1 8pin and a 6 pin but im affraid i already used all molex 4 pin cables, i just saw an 6pin to 8 pin adapter can i use them instead? or should i buy a molex to 8pin?

That is one sketchy ass PSU - I'd really look into upgrading it - whatever card you go with - I wouldn't trust a GPU with it.

so would you recommend another manufacturer that has a full cover waterblock? i just water cooled my pc to make it quit when i download stuff over night :D

and i guess my cpu would love it to have a 5x120 rad on its own :D

That is if you want a full cover waterblock. Generally most would prefer a full cover block if possible since a full cover black will cool all the components like vrm and vram as well.
