It is possible to do so from your router's home page. Just type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of any browser and it should take you there. There is usually a tab for blocking sites.

Note: It's not always this 192.168.1.1 so to check jump into command prompt and type 'ipconfig' and the correct ip will be listed beside 'default gateway'

Edit: Here is an example of what it looks like on my Netgear homepage (ofc will be different on yours due to a different router).

It depends on your router. In the security settings, you may have the option to blacklist URLs.

EDIT: Some routers will also have the option to blacklist certain words in URLs. Look in Firewall settings as well, that's where it's located on my router.

As people have mentioned, you can accomplish this in your router. The only down side it that you will not be able to block https or any other encrypted data. Another option (if you are willing to take the time) is to modify the host file in windows. The down side of this is you will have to do it on each computer so it will take some time. You will easily be able to find a guide online if you want to go this route. The advantage is you will be able to block any websites that use HTTPS or any other encrypted protocols.
