Xigmatek Dark Knight Night Hawk Frostbourne Edition (wow) vs. Cooler Master Hyper 212x

Go to solution Solved by Drixen,

I had a Xigmatek CPU cooler once, and it was alright. However, the fins were very unsatisfying. Myself and a lot of others, complained about receiving CPU coolers with 75% or 50% of the fins bent, and scratched.. overall, Xigmatek didn't take care of the components very well, from a quality check standpoint.

Go w/ Cooler Master, Noctua, Phanteks or even be quiet!... you can NEVER go wrong with these companies.

As title says.

Price is not the issue. I want the Xigmatek because of the looks (yeay white) but I'm not sure if it'll perform at least at par with the Hyper212x

http://www.xigmatek.com/product.php?productid=186

Procie to be cooled will be an overclocked G3258 (if possible I want to OC it to the skies.)

I'm not even sure if this will fit in a prodigy m.

ADD:

Dammit the fan on this is stooped. I was planning on buying another similar fan but apparently you cant push/pull with this fans because of the screwholes.
Sooooooo, I will be replacing the fan with Scythe GTs on push/pull.

Prodigy M supports max 160mm tower CPU coolers.

212x is 158mm, barely makes it... but WILL work.

Cooler Master makes VERY good CPU coolers... performance wise.. go 212x. I love my Cooler Master :)

Everybody loves the Hyper212. ahahahaha But what I'm asking here is if the Xigmatek can perform at least as a Hyper212.

noctua is a bit expensive for my build. and completely destroys the white theme of the build.

phanteks and BQ are unavailable here.

#sad. looks like ill just buy the hyper212. slap some scythe GTs on it and just LED the whole thing up.

EDIT: or wait, I can go full black..

closing this thread.

Thanks man.

Here's an image of my Cooler Master Gemini II S524 Ver. 2 cooler... which is EXACT as a Hyper 212 EVO, just a model made for low-profile builds. Look at the build quality... beautiful piece of art in my mind. Noctua's are the only other company to give me a "wow" feeling when unboxing.

The Dark Knight performs better--it performs as well as the NH-U12S or other 'better than Hyper 212-tier' coolers.

Opinions vary, and environments widely vary. :) Glad someone can have a slice of the bread in this to contradict.

Really, I hate the debate of CPU coolers, lol. It gets so old repeating and seeing the same info become like flies.

To the OP- get what you think looks better, performs better and just overall satisfies you more. Either way, you're the end user at the end of the day. Get what makes you feel happiest for your purchase.

on this review, it's like the WORST heatsink of the lot. But judging from the contenders, it was framed to be worst ahahaha

'The lot' are massive coolers that perform similarly to the NH-D14--easily past what the 212x delivers.

It's not much of a debate--air coolers are one of the most consistent when it comes to benchmarks when variables are controlled.

The only environment that comes into play is ambient temp, delta, and the system used for testing.

Interesting, that means I can go forth with the frostbourne..

Any suggestions for an all-white heatsink fan? I was planning on a push/pulling by buying another of the provided fan, but apparently the screw holes are only on one side.

Are you doing push/pull just for the looks? It's not that helpful from a performance perspective.

Yep. Dat one-sided fan complete wrecks the beauty of this cooler..

Currently looking at 2x Enermax' Cluster as a replacement.

Or should I just go pull/pull on both sides? I think that would negatively impact performance

Pull on both sides wouldn't help at all.

If you're going for looks, AF120 QE's with white rings looks great.

Here they are in a friend's system:
