GTA V ps3 choppy frames?

Theminecraftaddict555

it seems that there are moments in gta V especially the online, where the framerate feels very choppy as if its running at 25 frames or lower...I tried using the smooth option on the game settings for the ps3....but that didn't work

Every other game like cod, KH2, runs well with no frame drops or choppy frames

I am also using an hdtv that is running at 60hz with HDMI (technically its 120hz, but tvs use 60hz)

The playstation versions have framerate issues the xbox versions have graphics set to a lower setting, so with consoles its a pick your poison situation

Last I checked the PS3 and 360 looks the same

The 360's got a bit more GPU power under the hood so that's why it runs worse on the PS3, which, arguably, has more CPU power than GPU.

they dont, the ps3 version is a bit better looking but runs worse then 360, not that the 360 one runs well.

yeah, that's because it is...i remember when i played GTA5 on PS3 what a blast it was but yeah performance is very poor...on PC though at 1440P Gsync 144hz it looks fabulous ;)

...Also remember the PS3 becoming really loud and hot when playing this game...very demanding for PS3...it's amazing that it even run at 20FPS+ IMHO.

Still one of the best looking one on PS3.

I wish they lowered the settings to the xbox 360 in their updates.....Imagine being in a gunfight with the choppy fps

if you enjoy this game, it's massively better on a gaming PC, it run's well at high framerates and much higher image fidelity even on a mid-range gaming machine.

The graphics are the same on ps3 and 360

360 just has a slightly stronger GPU

btw ps3 is limited to 30 fps especially on gta and is known to drop frames on last gen, went from my pc at 60fps to my 360 and almost got sick due to the choppy frames and poor quality,

edit: i guess thats why i went pc route :/ still had many good times on a console tho

  • 2 weeks later...

Just to get this straight ... The Xbox was smoother because its CPU/GPU architecture was easier to work with! Peace out.

It was based on a PC and the PS3 had something on its own it took longer to optimize the performance.
