Good TV to digital recorder?

We have Comcast basic cable and we have a cable box from Comcast. It convert the cable signal into analog. We have this old VCR but the heads are messed up so it's hard to watch TV. We did buy a VCR/DVD combo a few years ago but that does not have coaxial and eats tapes. I am looking at http://www.amazon.com/Mediasonic-HW180STB-HomeWorx-Converter-Recording/dp/B00IYETYX8/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1442678776&sr=1-2&keywords=DVR but I'm not sure if it will work as the cable box outputs analog and is responsible for changing channels as well.
