MSI Motherboard HELP!

Hey guys,

I recently broke my back sound ports while cleaning out my PC, so after a few weeks or so  I managed to get a Creative sound card. Now comes the problem. I already have PCI wifi adapter in my pc but my motherboard (MSI P67A-GD53 (B3) supports two PCI slots as it has two of them. So I tried to put my sound card, in the second PCI slot but my PC won't boot, it turns on and then 5 seconds later, it restarts without posting; so getting worried that my sound card is broken I put it in my mates PC and its recognizing the sound card and its working perfectly fine.

So after a bit of time diagnosing, my PC has a weird problem. It only boots with one PCI slot inserted. By this I mean I insert my sound card in slot 2 and unplug my WIFI adapter in slot 1 and it boots, then I insert my sound card in slot 1 and WIFI adapter in slot 2 but no boot, then you guessed it I unplug my sound card and it boots in slot two with the WIFI adapter inserted. So it only boots with one PCI slot being used, it wont boot with both of them.

I have updated my BIOS to the latest version but it still only boots with one slot. Please guys can you help, do I need to change settings in BIOS or what? Thanks Guys! :)

I have the exact same issue with my mom's pc.We have a sound card for the speakers in the living room and if i change the sound card to another slot it will freeze the pc.So far i didn't manage to fix it tho i did install a new hard disk, cleared the cmon and use a fresh copy of win 7, even worst sometimes during the installation of the driver it will bluescreen.Try to upgrade the bios, clear the cmos and format the hard disks. Some leftovers could cause incompatibility issues or overlapping.Best of luck

Beware of him that is slow to anger; for when it is long coming, it is the stronger when it comes, and the longer kept. Abused patience turns to fury.

Motherboards tend to have a limit on how many add in cards they support before requiring additional power through a separate Molex connector and it looks like you may have hit the limit.

To verify this, try booting with both PCI cards after removing the video card.

Edit: I just noticed that your motherboard doesn't have any video outputs which is very odd for an 1155 board, unfortunately that will make testing without a graphics card impossible

I dont think this is the issue, as I have just unplugged my GPU and inserted both PCI cards and its doing the same thing which is turn on for 5 seconds and then restart posting (I think cause there was no image)

No no you are not gonna boot it you need to do it to reset the motherboard...

Follow this!

1. Unplug the power...

2. Remove CMOS battery

3. Hold power button for 30 seconds

4. Then put battery and power back in and start it!
