Mounting a custom 5.25 Bay inside the PC Help

Revan654

My Current case does not have any 5.25 bays, However I want to mount my ROG OC Panel inside my case Somehow. What does everyone suggest to do to get it mounted? I would prefer to mount it at the top in some way.

Case: Lian-Li PC-O8

Current Build: Project Frost
Gaming Rig Build: Project Ice Dragon

Personally I'd leave the case and mount it externally say on the underside edge of your desk with a modded 5.25" bay

I was trying to put in my Case So I could see it through the glass. Maybe some industrial double sided Velcro would work.

IIRC the unit has buttons to select display options while putting it behind the glass would be fairly easy with velcro as you suggested but I'm not sure how convenient it would be to take off the glass panels every time to change settings unless you plan to leave them once set.

Not much you can do with a tempered glass front.

Would you be willing to top mount it?  You could drill/dremel a cut out in the top, in zone 2 just forward of the HDD cage.

If I went that way I'd make the hole just smaller than the front bezel of the unit, so that the bezel sat slightly proud of the chassis top.

Caveat:  I would not do this to that chassis  - as I'd pretty much destroy it's value by doing so.  I'd find a more suitable chassis, then sell or trade that one.

I have no interest in using the device, I just want to see the panel to see the temps and fan RPMs. Nothing more.

I'm not going to be drilling into this case. Specially at 379.

Glad to hear you are not clinically insane.

If all you want to do is look at it then you should probably be able to rig up some kind of sling/support arm to hang it behind the front glass - maybe a piece of bent aluminum stock (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.) painted black and attached below the top USB ports/panel.

Once the case Arrives, I'll look inside and see what my options are.

Oh ok fair enough then, if there is enough room maybe on the top right corner where it's fairly out of the way but still visible through the glass panel:

i wish i was familiar with the case id suggest a simple custom mounting bracket idea but with out being able to take some measurements and see whats already there for screws to work with its hard to say that's a beautiful case tho and i understand the want to keep it looking as sharp as possible it maybe as easy as using something like http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Universal-Mounting-Bracket-BRACKET/dp/B0001UZQWG/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1441671797&sr=8-5&keywords=hard+drive+mounts to mount it on the inside of the case
