TASCAM TH02 w/ sony clip on OR Hyper X cloud

My brother needs a new headset and I was wondering how these two compare in the closed headphone category. The Tascam combo comes out to around 55 bucks since I'd wana get the Brainwav replacement pads and the Hyper X is 80. Is the 25 dollar difference justified in terms of sound quality? 

 

I like the X because the one wire system is much less irritating than two but if the sound quality is not insanely better than he can deal with the Tascams instead.
