6 pin extension DIY bypass

AeroXero

So, recently I bought 2 6 pin PSU cable extensions from Silverstone. During my installation, I entertained the thought of removing the female connectors and replacing them with male connectors, then just running them straight out of my Rosewill PSU into my 2 7850 cards. Is there any safety concerns with doing this or is it just a plug and play type situation?

All the safety is in your psu, not the connectors. As long as you don't mess up the lead when changing the connector everything will be fine. Have a multimeter by your side just in case to check the voltage of every connector. Or you could just order male to male connector :)

The closest to a male to male extension i could find is a molex to 6 pin cable. Any links to a specific cable?

Hmm. Looked on ebay and almost nothing or too expensive. If you have the male connector, just carefully take out the female one and insert the cables into appropriate insertions. They should clip in easily

Welcome to the Fourms!

Note all PSU's have a different pinout on the PSU end which might not match up on the connector end so you must probe or find an electrical diagram of the pinout of your specific PSU. There is a reason why there are no female to female extensions since they are PSU dependent.
