Is switching out a 32" FULL HD TV for a 29" ultrawide worth it?

Tista93

Hey guys,

I am currently thinking about switching out my 32" 16:9 full hd tv for a 29" ultrawide monitor. I'll be using it for work (coding, office etc.). gaming and watching movies from my bed (around ~2.2m distance while lying in Bed and around ~ 1m distance sitting at the table)

Would a ultra wide screen really pay off in terms of productivity and multi tasking ? Or is it simply not worth it?

Thanks in advance :)

Yes.

It's a lot better when you use actual Computer Monitor instead of TV.

TVs have terrible input lag and visual quality.

That will be a huge jump in the right direction.

I went from a 27in 1080p monitor to a 29in ultrawide, and while it feels smaller somehow I've still loved it and I wouldn't go back, however I would like to go to a 30in or 34in ultrawide as the 29in is only about as tall as a 24in display.

Desktop: i9 11900k, 32GB DDR4, 4060 Ti 8GB 🙂

I went from a 50" LG 1080p Plasma to a 29" AOC 2560x1080 ultrawide and it was the best thing I ever did, one thing to note is some games still do not support ultra wide 21:9 but most work fine.

My monitor died on me from one day to the other. I am a college student so low on cash most of the time. The TV I use atm was on sale for 140€ so it was a no brainer.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'll get a ultra wide next month. I hope I don't run into vram issues because I use a GTX 970 G1 - but I am not gaming THAT much so I hope I'll be fine.

Mostly switching because of the better workflow anyways.

29inch on a ultra wide is a lot small then people think its similar to a 27inch on hight so maybe a 34 inch ultra wide montior if you like the size of your current 32inch monitor.

you'll be fine, as long as you bump the graphic settings down a bit in some demanding games. :) enjoy your monitor when ever you get it!

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'll save up for a LG 34" Ultra wide :)

get the 34um67  and costs around 500$

its the cheapest 34" widescreen, and it also happens to be 75hz and freesync - which you`ll be VERY happy you have next time you change your video card
