First Time Build. Need Help with GPU selection

dashton27

This is my first time crafting a pc. I would like to stay under $1200. I have most everything selected besides a GPU. I will be using software such as autocad and solidworks for modeling. I will also be playing pc exclusive games and watching movies (not 4k) If I could get a rating out of 10 for my pc so I can see if im headed in the right direction that would be magical. I realize I'm spending a lot on the memory and storage but I think those parts will last me... forever. Appreciate the help Linus Tech Community!

BOOM!

Dang :(  I actually already purchased the PSU, it was the first component I purchased. I got it for $75 though. Is it a decent PSU or should I return it?

Would you recommend a GPU under $300?

Just keep it's still fine but it's just not worth the money you pay for it.

Thought you said you're budget was $1200 total?

Either way best card under $300 is the R9 290:http://pcpartpicker.com/part/sapphire-video-card-100362vx2sr

I did, just $400 sounds like a lot of $$$$. I could take the extra a put in fans or.... anything else. The possibilities are endless.
