Advice on a new Headser 200-300 USD

Hower

I am re-posting this because i was told my previous post was in the wrong section of the forums.
I hope i am posting in the right place.
I'm a gamer in need of a new headset. I've had a siberia V2 before and i extremely pleased with it in every aspect. Comfort, sounds, bass and rigidity. Right now i have a budget of about 200-300 USD to spend on a new one. I am not the biggest audio geek so that's why i'm posting here, hoping maybe someone might help me find the best headset for my needs.

What i'm looking for in a headset is primarily comfort and good sound quality.A very strong point for a headset for me at least is the surround sound aspect of it. I am not necessarily talking about having 5.1 or 7.1 audio in the headset. But when i do play games like Counter strike and such i do want to be able to tell exactly where my teammates and where my enemy is. The siberia V2 that i had did an amazing job at this, despite being a 2.1 stereo headset.  I do want the bass to be deep and punchy, but not too much bass because for me that could ruin the experience as a whole. If anyone has owned a siberia V2 before, that's the kind of bass i am looking for at least. I have heard some good things about companies like Audio Technica and Plantronics but are they the best ones for this budged? I couldn't say. Maybe someone here knows more about this matter than i do.

Another thing i do want to emphasize with this headset is a good quality microphone. I hate it when i'm talking to someone over skype or something else and they just doing sound good because their microphones are bad. I know some microphones tend to make sounds like P and B sound a bit too harsh and i would like to avoid that. Breathing that much air into the microphone isn't very pleasing for the person listening to me.

Thank you to anyone who answers in advance.  :)

EDIT: No mid mic suggestion please. I'd prefer it to have the mic attached to the headset

sennheiser g4me one  , look no further, probably the best "gaming" headset on the market.

if you want to go the headphone and modmic/desk mic way, id say something like the audio technica ad700x and a snowball.

Fidelio X2 would be perfect.

The M50X has a really small soundstage and is greatly outclassed by the often-going-on-sale-for-lower-than-$150 K612 Pro, but that may need amping due to it being insensitive, and arguably not as much bass as the X2 by a large margin.

And also, surround sound on headphones is software. With Razer Surround, even the free version, you essentially have 7.1 on even IEM's/In-Ear Monitors/Earphones.

You can also add a Mod Mic.

And also, gaming headphones are essentially headphones with a built-in mic. Thats about it.

I think that if the mods had seen it, they would have just moved it over here. It's really no big deal. A lot of people post audio questions in the Peripherals sub, since they all think of audio as a peripheral, not a dedicated component/subset... Regardless, X2 are a really good option! They have a sound signature that is very widely liked, and easy to get used to.

only to a certain point, most "gaming" headphones with the exception of sennheiser and other big companies are generally cheaply made  shit.

id stay away from

logitech (except the g930)

razer

corsair (terrible build quality)

turtle beach (tinny and hollow)

astro (had them and they sucked so bad, even worse than turtle beach)

trittons.

Well yeah, but that's doesn't change the fact that they are headphones with a mic attached... @TheDudeWhoTriesHard didn't say anything about their quality, just that they are literally headphones with mics attached to them in some fashion.

Its just logic, basically. Those who market headsets are either marketting it for broadcasting or for gaming. A pair of legitimate audio headphones don't have a mic and each ear-cup is essentially filled with the driver. In terms of quality, its a hit and miss on both ends. Some companies make headphones with no mics that are flimsier than majority of the gaming headphones that are stereotyped as flimsy.

i agree, the only reason to get a gaming headset is if you dont want a  mic on your desk, thats the only reason i can think of, the only reason i got my headset is  because i didnt wanna spend £140 on the 598s and then have to buy a mic, when my headset was £120 and is technically the 558/598 with a built in mic.

i feel like if you want pinpoint precision, an open-back design will fit perfectly.
i also recommend buying a headphone and adding a modmic, but if like bass and comfort the g4me zero (better  bass) g4me one (open, better precision) some ppl recommend the astro a40s, but i dont know that much about them.
the audio-technica m50x/m40x can be good opitions (if you lean towards the  mod mic) or the sennheiser 518(bass)/558(mids and highs)
the only problem with modmic, imo, is the cable clutter, can be a bit frustrainting to deal with double cables :)
ps: these headphones will not explode your budget, but if you really want to spend all the money, buy 2 pairs, you can get different signatures, for different applications, gaming, music, movies.....

i've been tolde the impedance of the game zero headphones needs an amp or something. and i really don't want to go through the process of buying one as well. I am looking for a headset to just plug in my on board audio card and go

you wont find many my friend, not very good ones, and im talking about the g4me one not zero :P the zero is closed back and does require more power  i believe but the g4me one is 50 ohms.

astros are the most awful headsets on the market in terms of sound imho,  for one they dont tell you that you need ddl support to use them to their potential which is something only found in soundcards and two they break very very easy, i had two  pairs within two months (first ones had a loose port and the second pair mixamp started crackling and cutting out) never buy astros.

I think its been said over and over again that sensitivity matters over impedance because impedance doesn't tell the real story on how hard a pair of headphones is to drive.

You listened!!! I like that! :)
